"Karan was working on adding the support of service conversion for Word documents on Mac and the conversion from within Acrobat core was seeming a trivial task given that we already support service conversion for CC formats like AI, ID and PSD. However, and unfortunately, we discovered that this is an extremely difficult and challenging task given how converters are designed (as previously, a converter either supported synchronous or asynchronous conversion) and the large number of workflows from where they are used (e.g. File Open, Drag/drop, Combine, various apps like Create PDF etc.) and the desired functionality wanted the office converter to support both the synchronous and asynchronous conversion and ensure that all of the various workflows are intact. To cater to this, Karan developed a very deep understanding of the corresponding legacy code for various workflows, came up with an altogether new design that allows a converter to support both synchronous and asynchronous conversion, ensured that the design is future proof and the corresponding changes will result in minimal impact on the existing workflows. He got the designed reviewed and validated from the architecture council member and quickly implemented the corresponding changes. To ensure that no stone is left unturned, he also came up with and provided a detailed test plan to the QE resulting in a timely completion and the foundation of a new building block for converters that will be quite handy in future given the strong focus on services!"?
